Summer days drifting away...

The lovely Jade of the blog Jewelry Whore was kind enough to send me a necklace from her recently opened E tsy shop! I have been on a hunt for vintage ankh jewelry lately so I was pretty excited to receive this in the mail. Jade has a bunch of cute vintage jewels currently for sale so if you have a chance, check out her shop at the link above.

Here are some close ups of the necklace. I love the etched in details of the ankh charms and the thick rope chain. Please excuse the cleavage! I put on a few pounds and it has seem to have gone to some pretty unexpected places. Ahem!

I paired the ankh necklace with my new Benjamin sunglasses, my Marcia Moran ring, and a vintage Indian bangle.

Giving Up Giving In

These images are from a few weeks back when my boyfriend and I escaped to Rehoboth beach for his families annual reunion. Instead of cool ocean breezes we were greeted with insufferable heat! I pretty much spent my entire trip in loose fitting dresses and a wide brim hat. This dress made an appearance on the blog back when it was still chilly out. It has proven to be a great transitional piece that will probably make its way through all four seasons.

Another piece I can see myself wearing throughout the year is the above hat which I found at a random church sale for $4.00! I fell in love with its dramatic brim and rusty brown color. I had been wanting a hat like this for quite some time and was pretty excited to find it right before I left for my trip.

Vacationing in Rehoboth with my boyfriend's family always means a free place to stay and no sales tax! That is why it has become a tradition of ours to indulge in a new pair of sunglasses each year.

The previous two summers I have gone with a pair of Chanels but this time I decided to go with something a bit different. Say hello to my new pair of Benjamin sunnies! The great thing about this pair in particular is that the lenses can be popped off to be worn as a regular pair of glasses. Since I don't need prescription lenses, I have been wearing them like that just for fun.

I also brought home with me the above smoky quartz necklace. I loved the raw look of the crystals and it seems to match with 99% of my wardrobe which is always a plus.

After my coworker received constant compliments on her nail color I decided to follow suit and painted my toes with Essie's Lilacism. I wish I had found this color at the start of the season because it really is the perfect summer hue. Can you believe fall is almost on its way?

Walking on Sunshine

I tend to stay away from long skirts since I'm short and I feel like they make me look even shorter, but this skirt does just the opposite.

It's also extremely comfortable due to the lightweight, sheer fabric. I must admit it's a bit tough to walk in, but this could be unique to me since I'm not used to walking in something that goes all the way to the ground!

Throughout high school I only ever wore silver jewelry. I think this had something to do with the fact that I bleached my hair because once I went back to my natural color, gold became my preference. That is until I bought this vintage necklace. Now I find myself gravitating towards my silver jewelry when I get dressed in the morning.

I bought these rings at Forever21 with the sole intention of pairing them with the above necklace. I really like the color combination of black and antique silver and thought it was only appropriate to carry the theme into my shoes as well.

Do you have a preference when it comes to gold or silver?

I apologize for the slow down in posts, lately my weekends have been filled with countless engagements. Everyone I know is either getting married or popping out babies. Every weekend I have had either a shower, a bachelorette party, or a weddings to attend. Only two bridal showers and four more weddings to go before the marathon ends. Wish me luck!

With the recent weather in NYC, I have found it very difficult to get all dolled up when all I want to wear is little to nothing. My solution to this has been to pair dressy jewels and accessories with a casual ensemble. Here is what I wore to a bridal shower a few weekends back.

This vintage clutch is the perfect size to hold all of the essentials as well as the countless cards I've had to give.

I bought these earrings at the BK flea from a pair of vintage jewelry vendors from Chicago who had been at Brimfield the day before. They were eager to unload their goods before making their return trip home and I was happy to help! Had I had the cash, I would have bought everything in their case! Instead I brought home the above shoulder duster earrings and a beautiful collar which will make it's debut on here soon.

Lately I have been a bit obsessed with see through shirts. I know some people might frown upon this sort of thing but I think it's a great look as long as it's done tastefully. I'm not one to wear anything short or low cut so tops like the above allow me to feel sexy without being out of my comfort zone. What are your thoughts on sheer tops and exposed undergarments?

She is a Canadian-born British-raised jewelry designer whose interests not only lie in jewelry but in anthropology as well. She has collaborated with the likes of Chloé, Gucci, and Nicole Farhi but what I find most interesting about Pipa Small is her story. As a child she collected bits and baubles from her travels and assembled them into jewelry that told the story of her life. I love how she fell into jewelry design by a need to hold onto tactile memories.

All That Jazz

These images are from a few weekends ago. Lately I haven't had much time to blog, preparing for May jewelry market and my pup's recent neutering has kept me very busy.

On this particular Saturday I could easily have stayed in bed all day but instead I dragged myself out and attempted to get dressed. On days like these I utilize key pieces in my wardrobe to help liven up an otherwise mundane outfit.

This vest tends to get a lot of mileage. I basically throw it over anything when I'm feeling lazy but want to look like I'm trying.

The "Crystal Point" necklace was borrowed from work and is part of the Grayce Collection. I love how it looks like a vintage art deco piece.

This sweater coat has been in my wardrobe for a few years now and rarely ever makes it out of my closet but lately I find myself grabbing for it. It has the perfect length sleeves for a chilly spring day and being the jewelry lover that I am, I can't help but love the bead work.

Forever21 has been my go to store for fun affordable rings. These two haven't let my fingers since I purchased them.

Wedges are always my answer to laziness, it's the only way to get a little height and still be comfortable!

I immediately emailed Judy Aldridge of Atlantis Home about the above elephant necklace after seeing it on her blog. I have been searching for this Pauline Rader necklace since last July so naturally I thought this necklace must be one of Rader's designs as well. I later came to learn that it was actually unsigned but that didn't detour me from wanting to add this piece to my collection. Judy had intended the necklace for a vintage jewelry show she was hosting at the V.O.D B0utique in Texas (which I obviously couldn't attend) but lucky for me this was one of the only pieces that wasn't sold! I promptly purchased it and have been wearing it incessantly ever since.

This necklace has proven to be a great conversation starter. I can't seem to go anywhere without being stopped and asked about it. As usual my boyfriend can't grasp as to why I would like to wear a bunch of plastic elephants around my neck but then again, I don't always understand his fashion choices.

I'm pretty sure I'm barking orders at him in this image as to what not to get in the frame....sorry Ian!

I have also been donning the above ring fairly regularly since purchasing it at a jewelry wholesale/retail shop along Broadway. Looks familiar huh? I didn't realize until after I brought it home that it's actually a knockoff of the Elizabeth & James knuckle ring. I can't help but love it anyway.

Last Thursday my entire office attended an invite only event at Henri Bendel for the launch of Grayce by Molly Sims The Collection. It was truly gratifying to see all the jewelry that I had been working on for months, displayed beautifully against a decorated wall of images shot by Aaron Eckhart. Molly of course looked beyond gorgeous and I was a bit floored by all of the industry people and celebrities that surrounded me. I'm such a homebody that these sort of things make me feel completely out of my element. I pretty much freaked out when I saw Kelly Rutherford posing with the jewelry looking exactly how she does on Gossip Girl. Yes I watch GG, it's a guilty pleasure OK! Below are some of my images from the event.
